Job Description

Summary

As a Game Designer focused on Feature Design, you will own the creation and optimization of new gameplay features that directly impact Engagement and Retention.

You will design systems from concept to specification, ensure smooth adoption funnels, align features with the in-game economy, and continuously optimize performance through live data and structured experimentation.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong ownership, executive-level communication, and the ability to balance player experience with business performance.

You will have the opportunity to:

Design and specify new features that drive Engagement and Retention
Analyze feature adoption funnels (introduction activation retention) and optimize user flows, friction points, and reward structures
Define unlock conditions, rewards, and Expected Value (EV) models by player segment
Ensure economic alignment with existing systems, including Source/Sink balance
Collaborate cross-functionally to establish A/B testing plans and measurement requirements
Design and balance mechanics and progression systems that strengthen player flow and long-term retention
Continuously tune features post-launch using live data
Analyze win rates, retention deltas, gameplay curves, and economic metrics to optimize balance
Lead live tuning cycles (hypothesis parameter adjustment measurement iteration)
Maintain structured difficulty tiers (Normal / Hard / Boss / Event where applicable)
Partner with UX, Art, Engineering, Analytics, and LiveOps to optimize clarity, feedback loops, and system cohesion
Document tuning frameworks and economic design principles for alignment across teams

Qualifications:

Proven development and live-operations experience in F2P Puzzle and/or Merge genres, with deep understanding of gameplay mechanics
Ability to communicate with ownership and confidently engage with executive leadership (including CEO-level discussions)
Capable of building Unity mock-ups independently and communicating ideas grounded in implementation feasibility
Strong interest in game design, level design, player psychology, and data science

Core Skills:

      F2P System Design Expertise
Ability to integrate difficulty, progression flow, and economy (rewards/monetization) within Puzzle/Merge genres, and clearly articulate their impact on Retention and Monetization (including LTV)
      Data-Driven Iteration Cycle Management
Ability to derive actionable strategies from win rates, EV, retention deltas, ARPDAU, and live KPIs; rapidly execute hypothesis implementation measurement learning cycles
      Specification & Alignment Communication
Skilled in writing PRDs and structuring mock-ups and measurement requirements; able to clearly communicate intent, expected impact, and risks across Engineering, Art, QA, Analytics, and LiveOps
      Production Planning & Optimization
Ability to estimate level production capacity and effort, and propose productivity improvements including AI and automation workflows.
Deep understanding of how difficulty curves, flow design, and economic systems impact retention and monetization
Strong analytical skills translating quantitative metrics into actionable design decisions
Experience with  level production capacity planning in casual genres (including AI-assisted pipelines)
Comfortable iterating quickly based on live KPIs and player feedback
      Experience thriving in Agile environments
      Strong cross-functional communication skills
      Experience in hybrid-casual genres

Nice to Have:

Strong understanding of experimentation frameworks (A/B testing platforms, Remote Config systems) and safe live balancing practices
Modeling and simulation capabilities for economy, retention, and revenue forecasting
Expertise in economic circulation design (Source/Sink balance, reward pacing, inflation control)
Quantitative balancing skills using Expected Value modeling, difficulty curves, and win-rate data
Experience with economy simulation, retention modeling, and monetization design
Hands-on experience with live balancing tools and experimentation frameworks
